I love a midweek wedding – especially one in such spectacular settings! Melanie & Jivko are a Kiwi and Bulgarian (respectively) living in South Africa – so it made perfect sense for them to get married in North Wales! Mel first got in touch last year after one of her best friends, Catherine, was a guest at Gill & Martin’s wedding at The Great Hall at Mains and subsequently passed on my details – many thanks Catherine! I was delighted when Mel booked over the phone (with her living such a distance away, it was always going to be difficult to meet up ahead of the day) and she then went on to book my amazingly talented wife, Emma Draper, to take care of her make-up.
So Emma and I headed down to Conwy on Tuesday afternoon to meet Mel & Jivko for the first time. Emma spent some time with Mel doing lots of lovely make-up things before we wandered into Conwy later in the afternoon for Mel & Jivko’s pre-wedding shoot. Here’s a little taster…
Emma & I then stayed over on Tuesday and spent a lovely evening in the restaurant at The Castle Hotel in Conwy – the posh fish and chips were amazing and fuelled me up nicely for Mel & Jivko’s wedding the next day!
Mel & Jivko were having their reception at the beautiful Caer Rhun Hall just outside of Conwy (which is where we all stayed as well) so bridal prep was very easy to do! And was very relaxed too! Just the way we like it!
So here’s a little sneak peek at what a wedding blessing at Conwy Castle looks like…
Mel’s dress is a stunning Maggie Sottero number that she found overseas and then bought from The Confetti Box in Manchester – gorgeous hey?!
After the ceremony at the castle, we spent a few minutes at the nature reserve just across the river…
Back to the majestic Caer Rhun Hall…
Nobody puts baby in the corner…
Congratulations Mel & Jivko!
Thank you so much for having Emma and I and upgrading us from ‘hired help’ to ‘guest’ status! It was amazing and it was a pleasure to drink tequila with you!
